Screening of “The Treasure Hunt”
“The Treasure Hunt” film premiere is Saturday, May 18 at 7 p.m. Directed by award winning television veteran Fred Barzyk and written by Chelmsford resident Kenneth Cantrell, “The Treasure Hunt” is a drama inspired by Cantrell’s nostalgic boyhood memories of buying treasure maps and going on a treasure hunt with his best friend at age 11. The story is about the innocence of youth and coming of age contrasted against the backdrop of World War II. The film features authentic historic photographs and footage, and was supported in part by a grant from the Chelmsford Cultural Council with more than 65 volunteers from Chelmsford and surrounding towns working on the film. Original music was written by Paul Berler, director of the Chelmsford Community Band and assistant conductor of The Concord Band, who directed the recording of the musical score by students from the Timberlane Regional High School Performing Arts Center in Plaistow, N.H. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10 to the Chelmsford Center for the Arts.
